The White Tiger

A compact, high-volume Funformance shape built to catch waves easily, carry speed and keep everyday surf fun.

The White Tiger is a compact, stubby Funformance shape designed around making everyday waves easier and more enjoyable. Its very full nose and wide squash tail create plenty of surface area and lift, while the wide point sits 1½" forward of centre and the thickness is concentrated towards the front for extra paddle power.

The rocker is relatively flat and even through the board, helping it get up and moving quickly while carrying speed through weaker sections. Underneath, a single/double concave runs through the front two-thirds before transitioning into pronounced Vee/double concave through the fins and off the tail. This gives the wider outline plenty of lift while helping it roll from rail to rail and turn up into the lip without feeling cumbersome.

The relatively flat deck blends into tapered rails, keeping useful volume in the board while maintaining sensitivity through turns. The result is a short, lively board that can be ridden well below your normal shortboard length without losing the ability to pump, carve and attack the lip.

Wave Range 1–6ft

Designed to cover a broad range of everyday surf from points to reefs and beach breaks.

Rocker Medium

Medium Low nose rocker blends into a low tail rocker, allowing the board to glide easily and carry speed through flatter sections while still surfing vertically.

Bottom Single with Double → Deep Vee

A single/double concave runs into moderate Vee and four channels through the tail, helping the board roll from rail to rail with extra bite and release.

Fin Setup Twin

The White Tiger is a twin-fin-only design.

What makes it work

Easy speed first. Performance still very much included.

Pyzel's current description centres the White Tiger around its clean forward-wide outline, moderate rocker and Spiral Vee bottom. The idea is simple: paddle fast, generate speed easily and keep the board flowing through turns.

01 · Speed

User-friendly rocker

Medium Low nose rocker blends into low tail rocker, helping the board glide over flatter sections while retaining enough curve to surf vertically.

02 · Drive

Fuller nose & wider tail

The wide point is 1½ inches forward of centre. The nose is very full and the squash tail is wide, with the tail only slightly wider than the nose. There is no hip.

03 · Release

Single with Double → Deep Vee

Single/double concave runs through the front two-thirds, transitioning into pronounced V/double concave through the final third. The Vee helps the wide outline tip from rail to rail at speed.

The shape

Stubby by design, serious about speed.

The outline is a long, clean curve with no hips or wings. Pyzel keeps the board wide-point-forward for stability and glide, while pulling the nose in slightly to add more curve and carve.

A rolled deck keeps the meat through the centre for paddling, while thinned-out rails add sensitivity and bite.

Why the White Tiger?

A fun board that still surfs like a shortboard.

The White Tiger is not simply an old-school twin template. The fin placement, pulled-in nose and added nose rocker were refined specifically to make the twin setup more controlled and useful in tighter sections.

Pyzel positions it from 1–6ft, with enough glide for weaker surf but enough response to handle long, lined-up waves and tighter pockets.

Who is the White Tiger for?

One stubby shape, a surprisingly broad range of surfers.

01 · Daily driver

One board for a lot of conditions

The 1–6ft range and moderate rocker make the White Tiger a natural choice for smaller, weaker and more playful surf.

02 · Performance surfer

Ride it shorter, wider and fuller

Pyzel recommends riding the White Tiger 2–5 inches shorter than your regular shortboard, depending on ability, ½–1 inch wider, and with a little more volume.

03 · Versatility

Small-wave speed without the boaty feel

The White Tiger is designed to carry speed through softer sections while still offering enough response for snappy, pivoted turns and sweeping carves.

Bob's Take

A small-wave board with a big personality.

The White Tiger is interesting because it deliberately puts useful volume and width into a very short package, then uses the bottom contour and rails to keep that volume responsive. Pyzel designed the whole package around speed, flow and a more natural twin-fin feel.

The design is deliberately compact and full-bodied: a clean stubby outline, very full nose, wide squash tail and a wide point 1½ inches forward of centre. Volume is concentrated forward around the beak nose to improve paddle power, while tapered rails keep the board sensitive through turns.

For UK surfers, the 1–6ft range is especially appealing. This is the kind of board that can make small, weaker or slightly funky days feel more worth paddling out for.

We'd start with your guide volume, then use Pyzel's sizing guidance: 2–5 inches shorter than your regular shortboard, ½–1 inch wider, and with a little more volume.
