Solite Boots — Bob Gnarly Surf

Bob Gnarly Surf Brand Story

Solite

Game-changing gear. Heat-moulded fit. Barefoot feel.

Rethinking the wetsuit boot from the ground up.

Solite was born from a simple idea: wetsuit boots could be lighter, more comfortable and far more connected to the board. The company was created by lifelong cold-water surfers Jamie Meiselman and Tyler Callaway, bringing together experience from two very different corners of the action-sports world.

Meiselman had spent much of his career in snowboard footwear, including running the boot division at Burton, while Callaway brought decades of surf-industry experience, including his work establishing FCS Fins and Accessories in the Americas.

Their development work focused on solving one of the biggest compromises in traditional surf boots — getting warmth and protection without losing the natural connection between your feet and your board.

After years of research, development and testing in everything from winter Maine to tropical Indonesia, Solite brought its heat-mouldable boot technology to surfers. The result was a completely different approach to surf footwear.

Solite heat mouldable surf boots

The boot that moulds to you.

Solite's defining idea is its heat-mouldable Thermofoam sole. Rather than simply accepting the shape of a standard boot, the sole can be custom moulded around your own feet using boiling water.

That creates a closer, more personalised fit while keeping the boot lightweight and responsive. The result is a more natural, barefoot-like connection to the board.

The technology has continued to evolve, with newer construction bringing redesigned Thermofoam soles, a more comfortable Mini-Split toe and 3D-moulded natural-rubber protection on selected models.

It's a properly different way of approaching surf footwear — and exactly the sort of thinking we like seeing from a brand.

Why we like Solite.

Boots are one of those bits of surf kit you really notice when they're wrong. Too stiff, too bulky, too loose or too disconnected from the board and they can completely change how a session feels. Solite has attacked that problem from a different angle, with a proper focus on fit, weight and board feel. For us, that's what makes them interesting — clever technology that's actually aimed at making surfing feel better.
