Phantom XL

A fuller-volume Ghost-family step-down designed to bring speed, flow and a high-performance feel to everyday surf.

Daily Driver 2–8ft Thruster · Quad · 5-Fin

The Phantom XL

A Ghost step-down designed to make everyday surf faster, easier and more responsive.

The Phantom XL follows the Ghost-family step-down concept: bringing that familiar feel into head-high and under conditions that make up many everyday sessions, with extra volume for surfers who want a fuller version of the Phantom.

Pyzel describes the Phantom as a scaled-down, souped-up Ghost with added volume. The design keeps the Ghost rocker and adds more single concave through the centre to help create speed and flow without losing the original performance feel.

Added width in the nose and tail creates a fuller, more parallel outline to help maintain speed through slower sections and tight turns. The rails are full but not chunky, adding flotation and speed while retaining sensitivity.

Wave Range 2–8ft

Best in waist-high to overhead waves of all types.

Rails Medium/Standard

Pyzel lists a medium/standard rail profile for the Phantom XL.

Bottom Single to Double to Vee

Pyzel lists a single-to-double-to-vee bottom contour.

Fin Setup Thruster · Quad · 5-Fin

Pyzel lists thruster, quad and 5-fin options for the Phantom XL.

What makes it work

More everyday speed. Still plenty of performance.

The Phantom XL follows the Phantom design brief: keep the Ghost-family performance feel while adding volume, speed, flow and a fuller outline for everyday surf.

01 · Speed

More single concave

Extra single concave through the centre helps flatten the board and create speed and flow without taking away from the original performance feel.

02 · Outline

Fuller nose & tail

Added width in the nose and tail creates a more parallel, fuller outline that helps maintain speed through slower sections and tight turns.

03 · Rails

Full without being chunky

The fuller rails provide more flotation and speed while retaining the sensitivity Pyzel wants from the board.

Bob's Take

A fuller-volume Phantom for everyday surf.

The Phantom XL extends the Phantom's everyday step-down brief with added volume. Pyzel's description focuses on retaining the Ghost-family feel while building speed and flow for less-than-epic conditions.

The fuller, more parallel outline and full-but-not-chunky rails are designed to add speed and flotation without sacrificing sensitivity.

With a listed 2–8ft wave range and three fin configuration options, the Phantom XL is designed as an everyday board with a performance edge.

Start with your guide volume, then compare it with the published Phantom XL dimensions to find a sensible size for your surfing.
