True Ames Surfboard Fins are renowned in the surfing world for their quality, design, and history. Founded in 1979, True Ames began by crafting fins to enhance performance. The company’s first fins were made for a small group of surfers in California. Over the years, True Ames expanded its reach, making fins for top athletes.

Their early designs were influenced by the growing interest in performance surfing during the 1970s. True Ames quickly became a leader in the fin-making industry. The fins' designs focused on improving speed, control, and turning ability. Each fin was handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail and functionality. As the sport evolved, True Ames fins adapted to new trends and technologies.

The brand has always been known for using high-quality materials in its fins. True Ames has also collaborated with legendary surfers to create custom fins. One of their iconic fins was the "Greenough" model, inspired by George Greenough's surfboard designs. The company’s innovations helped shape the modern surfboard fin as we know it today. True Ames continues to be an essential part of surfboard fin and board design, offering fins for all types of surfing.

The company’s fins are used in both competitive and recreational surfing worldwide. With decades of expertise, True Ames remains a trusted name in the surf industry. Their fins are a testament to the sport’s history and continual innovation.

Thrusters Explained

Thruster fins are a popular fin setup for surfboards, consisting of three fins: one center fin and two side fins. This configuration is known for its versatility and performance across a range of wave conditions. The center fin offers stability, while the side fins provide additional control and responsiveness.

The primary purpose of thruster fins is to offer a balanced combination of speed, maneuverability, and hold. The center fin helps prevent the board from sliding out, providing a secure and predictable feel when turning. The side fins generate more lift, making it easier to perform sharp turns, while still maintaining stability at higher speeds.

One of the key benefits of thruster fins is the increased control over the board. The side fins provide a better grip on the wave face, especially in powerful surf. This allows surfers to carve with precision and hold their line during aggressive turns.

Another advantage is that thruster fins allow for easier transitions between turns. The setup's balanced design makes it suitable for a wide range of surf styles. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced surfer, the thruster fin setup can help improve performance.

Thrusters also offer a responsive feel on both small and large waves. In smaller surf, the extra responsiveness allows surfers to easily change direction. On bigger waves, the stability offered by the setup ensures control even in more challenging conditions.

Overall, thruster fins are a versatile, high-performance choice. They deliver a mix of control, speed, and responsiveness, making them the go-to fin setup for many surfers.
