Who are Venture.

Venture Trucks is one of skateboarding’s most enduring and influential hardware brands, with a legacy deeply tied to the evolution of modern street skating. Founded in the early 1980s under the Ermico umbrella by skate entrepreneur Fausto Vitello, Venture was created as a challenger brand in a rapidly growing truck market dominated by older names like Independent and Tracker. While Independent had already established itself as the heavyweight standard, Venture carved out its own identity by focusing on lighter, more responsive trucks that suited the emerging technical style of street skating.

In its earliest years, Venture gained traction by offering a different feel underfoot: lower-profile geometry, tighter turning response, and reduced weight. These characteristics became especially important in the late 1980s, when skateboarding shifted away from vert ramps and pools toward ledges, stairs, rails, and flatground tricks in urban environments. As street skating exploded, Venture became one of the defining truck brands of that era, embraced by riders who needed equipment that responded quickly during flip tricks and technical maneuvers.

A major reason for Venture’s rise was its association with pioneering street skaters. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, icons like Mark Gonzales helped elevate the brand’s reputation. Gonzales, widely regarded as one of the inventors of modern street skateboarding, brought credibility and visibility to Venture at a time when skate culture was being reshaped by innovation in public spaces rather than traditional skateparks. His influence helped position Venture not just as a truck company, but as a symbol of street skating progression.

One of Venture’s most important contributions to skateboard design came in the early 1990s, when the company helped popularize six-hole baseplates and revised mounting patterns better suited for ledge tricks. According to skate industry histories, Venture was among the first brands to adapt truck baseplate drilling to reduce hardware damage during noseslides and tailslides—an innovation directly tied to the needs of street skaters. This design change became a lasting standard across the industry and demonstrated Venture’s willingness to evolve with rider demands.

The release of lightweight models such as the Featherlight series further cemented Venture’s place in skateboarding. These trucks appealed to a new generation of skaters who prioritized flick, reduced board weight, and quicker response. During the 1990s and early 2000s, Venture consistently ranked among the top-selling truck brands worldwide, often sitting just behind Independent in popularity. That market presence reflected both strong product design and deep cultural relevance in skate shops and video parts alike.

In 2011, Venture entered a new chapter when distribution moved to Deluxe Distribution, home to major skate brands including Real, Anti Hero, and Krooked. This transition strengthened Venture’s presence globally while preserving its core identity. Under Deluxe, the brand expanded its pro roster and continued backing influential riders such as Paul Rodriguez, Stefan Janoski, and Felipe Gustavo, ensuring its continued relevance across generations.

Today, Venture remains a cornerstone of skateboard hardware culture. Its impact lies not only in the trucks themselves, but in how the brand helped define what street skateboard setups should feel like: light, agile, grind-friendly, and built for progression. For decades, Venture has stood at the intersection of innovation and style, influencing how skateboarders ride—and how the industry builds trucks for the streets.
