The Story

Surf culture with a creative edge.

Vissla was born from a desire to do things differently. Rather than simply following the established surf industry playbook, the brand set out to represent a new generation of surfers, creators, designers and craftsmen who wanted to shape their own path.

At the heart of Vissla is the idea of the surfer as a creator. Surfing, shaping, design, art and craftsmanship all sit together under the same roof, with the brand describing itself as a collective of creators and innovators rather than simply another surf label.

That attitude runs through the product too. Vissla has developed a reputation for combining modern technical performance with a more relaxed, creative approach to surf style — producing everything from boardshorts and everyday apparel to technically focused wetsuits.

It's a brand built around freedom, experimentation and a genuine connection to surf culture, while continuing to look at ways of reducing its environmental impact and protecting the oceans and waves that make the whole thing possible.

The Vissla Approach

One of the clearest examples of the Vissla approach is the 7 Seas wetsuit. When Vissla began making wetsuits in 2014, the brief was straightforward: combine clean, modern design with contemporary technology and more environmentally conscious materials, without turning the product into an over-complicated piece of kit.

The result became the 7 Seas — Vissla's everyday wetsuit, designed around warmth, stretch, comfort and durability. Japanese limestone-based neoprene, thermal linings and water-based lamination technology have helped make the range a serious performer while keeping the look clean and understated.

The same philosophy extends across the wider brand. Vissla continues to experiment with recycled and lower-impact materials while keeping performance and usability at the centre of the product.

It's not about making technical gear for the sake of it. It's about making equipment that works, looks good and lets you concentrate on the bit that actually matters — surfing.

Why we rate Vissla.

Vissla gets the balance right. There's proper surf credibility behind the brand, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. The kit is technical where it needs to be, comfortable where it matters and generally has that clean, understated look we reckon works just as well out of the water as it does in it. The 7 Seas is a particularly good example — a genuinely capable wetsuit without the feeling that you've had to mortgage the van to buy it. Add the brand's focus on creativity, craftsmanship and more responsible materials and you've got a range that's very easy for us to get behind.
