Built On Attitude
The graphics became legendary.
Jim Phillips created Santa Cruz's first logo in 1975, beginning a relationship between artist and brand that would become one of the most important in skateboard graphics.
In 1985 came the Screaming Hand — an image that quickly became synonymous with Santa Cruz and remains one of the most recognisable symbols in skateboarding.
But the graphics were never just decoration. They captured the energy of the time: surf, skateboarding, punk, humour and a healthy disregard for convention. That attitude still runs through Santa Cruz today.
