Mini Padillac

A fast-paddling step-up with hidden volume, refined rails and the control to handle powerful, curvy waves.

The Mini Padillac

Paddle in early. Hold your line. Turn with confidence.

The Mini Padillac is Pyzel’s take on a modern daily driver: a blend of width, thickness and rocker designed to make paddling and wave-catching easier without losing the responsiveness that makes a performance board fun.

Extra volume sits under the chest to help you paddle and get into waves early. A rolled deck and thinned-out rails keep that thickness feeling refined under the arm and help retain responsiveness and speed.

Wave Range 4–15ft

A step-up shape designed for surf in the 4–15ft range.

Category Gun / Step-Up

A compact big-wave tool with paddle power, a refined nose and responsive rails.

Bottom Single → Double → Vee

A single concave blends into double concave and then a light vee through the fins and off the tail.

Fin Setup Five-Fin

The five-fin layout lets you choose a thruster, quad or five-fin setup to suit the surf.

The Mini Padillac is all about making your everyday sessions count: paddle power and stability when you need them, with a responsive tail and enough performance to keep progressing.

What makes it work

Paddle power for bigger surf. Refined for late drops and drawn-out turns.

Pyzel reshaped the front half of the original Padillac: the nose is pulled in and the nose rocker increased to fit a curvier wave face and make later drops easier. Extra volume under the chest supports paddling, while a rolled deck and thinner rails help keep the board responsive. Its long, continuous rocker is designed to feel smooth and predictable through big turns.

01 · Paddle

Foam under the chest

Extra volume under the chest helps you paddle into waves early without making the rails feel overly thick.

02 · Speed

Refined nose rocker

Pyzel pulled in the nose width and added nose rocker so the Mini Padillac can fit a curvier wave face and handle later drops.

03 · Turns

Continuous rocker curve

The long, continuous rocker curve is designed to keep the board smooth and consistent through powerful turns.

The shape

A refined nose and swallow tail built for powerful surf.

The Mini Padillac keeps the back half of the original Padillac while reworking the front half. Pyzel narrowed the nose and added rocker so it can fit steeper, curvier waves and handle later drops.

The bottom uses a single with double concave running to a light vee through the fins and off the tail. Pyzel says this combination keeps the board loose and fast while adding stability and drive. The swallow tail adds release off the bottom turn and pivot through top turns.

Sizing

Mini Padillac dimensions.

These are Pyzel’s published standard dimensions. Pyzel recommends starting around ½–1 inch wider and at least ⅜ inch thicker than your everyday board, but the best choice depends on your ability, fitness, preferred volume and the waves you surf. Treat the dimensions as a guide rather than a fixed sizing rule.

Bob's Take

A step-up that keeps paddle power and control in balance.

The Mini Padillac’s appeal is the balance: enough width and foam to make paddling and wave-catching feel more accessible, but with the rocker, rail foil and swallow tail to keep it responsive when you want to turn.

Pyzel’s sizing advice is to go roughly ½–1 inch wider and at least ⅜ inch thicker than your daily driver. That is a useful starting point for its step-up role, but match the final size to your own weight, ability, fitness and local conditions.

Pyzel lists the Mini Padillac for waves around 4–15 feet, with medium/standard rails, medium nose rocker, medium-high tail rocker and a swallow tail. Its five-fin layout can be configured as a thruster, quad or five-fin setup. Use the published dimensions as a starting point and choose carefully for the surf you expect to ride.
